Yeah, “Anyone Who Knows What Love Is.” They love putting that song in as many places as possible.
And I was expecting the kids to crash in the final chase and get posthumously blamed for kidnapping the unconscious Ashley.
I was thinking a more “Black Mirror” type ending would be:
- Ashley too carries out her plan and terminates the real Ashley
- But the aunt catches them, and
- plugs the Ashley too into the “virtual Ashley” projection and she’s back in business.
(Ashley too doesn’t/can’t not abide since the Aunt now has endless copies of her consciousness, and each Ashley too does not wish to be terminated).
So does this count as a happy-ending episode? San Junipero (which was mentioned in this episode) may be the only other happy ending. Unless you count revenge as a happy ending.
Miley played the main stage at Glastonbury this past weekend with a highly entertaining and wildly varied set. She covered Amy Winehouse, Led Zep and Metallica, and that was just the first fifteen minutes or so. Obviously her own stuff too, and the seemingly obligatory cover of her godmother’s Jolene.
Anyway, later on her dad and Lil Nas came on and did Old Town Road (which the crowd loved) while Miley went backstage. She came back on in character as Ashley O, did Ashley’s song and of course segued it into Nine Inch Nails’ Head Like a Hole.

Depends what you mean by “happy ending.” USS Callister, Hang the DJ, Black Museum, Striking Vipers and Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too all had endings that I would classify as “happy”: the good guys won, the bad guys lost, and there wasn’t any evil twist that re-contextualised the entire story. Hated in the Nation the good guys didn’t strictly “win”: but I include it in my own personal list of “good endings” and even Nosedive ended on a triumphant note for the main character, even though they were locked up in jail.
Definitely a happy ending, specially considering the whole thing was a giant fuck you to Disney.
