I live in San Diego now, but still keep up w/goings on in Chicago via various websites, to include the Trib and Sun Times.
Now I don’t know if the Trib/Sun Times reporting is somewhat slanted (why I wouldn’t know), but it seems like almost every murder is black on black or to a lesser extent black on other than black. Are murders in other areas committed by other than blacks reported less (again, why I wouldn’t know)?
Well most of the murders in town are between south-side gang-bangers. (that’s just my anecdotal observation based on watching the TV news, so it could be wrong.) If so, you are going to get a lot of B-on-B action.
If anything, the reporting is slanted the other way. Local news is often accused of only paying attention to murders of white folks or suburbanites, relegating ghetto murders to the bottom of page 14. About a decade ago, the Tribune made a big point of running a separate story about every child murdered in the city in a given year.
