Black Panther movie

Octopus is the Carl Spackler of the pit. Standing at the deep end of a freshly drained pool… except that ain’t no Baby Ruth he’s biting into.

Well, it makes a change from him defending racebaiting troll shitstains in ATMB…

…Let me say one thing as devil’s advocate: this movie does an excellent job of steelmanning the anti-refugee, closed-borders position. Seriously! W’Kabi is not really one of the good guys, but his position is not painted as obviously evil (unlike, say, Killmonger). Instead, we’re made to clearly understand that the reason behind this conflict is because it is a legitimately hard question, one that the nation has struggled with in the past. And while I am glad the movie ended the way it did, the position of “keep Wakanda hidden” is made to make… sense. It offers some insight into why so many people favor the “closed borders” position, even if it comes down on the opposite side.

Not that the OP is any less of a stupid troll, but part of why the movie is so great is that the bad guys are relatable and understandable, and not cartoon villains - except Claw, and he’s a really really good cartoon villain, and clearly painted as such.

Great. Another white boy for us to fix.

Nasty, bitter, old hag.

Actually, I suggested it to him, since he reminded me of a character from Boston Legal who called one of the attorneys “Mr. Dirty Mouth.”

The irony, it burns.

Wasn’t T’Challa (the Black Panther) who said that anyway. It was his brother W’Kabi. T’Challa ends the movie (minor spoilers) taking about how the wise build bridges, while the foolish make barriers.

Not that I’d expect someone like OP to distinguish between two Black people. Movie must have been a confusing blur for him!

Thank you! For reminding me of this line. I died in the theater when Shuri said that…

Oh, my god! I JUST realized that that line was foreshadowing of the reveal at the end-of-credits scene!

Since refugees could be of any race, the line might be more properly regarded as xenophobic rather than racist.

Everyone’s just kidding, we really want you to stuck around and help set us straight.
And we won’t use bad words if you don’t like it. Okay stoopnagel?

The really ironic thing is that, at some point in the future of the MCU, the mostly-black Wakandans are likely to be welcoming a group of mostly-white Asgardian refugees. Who, let’s face it, probably will bring problems with them, and it’ll still be the right decision to let them in.

Love how this moron completely missed the entire point of the movie because someone said something that seemed to support Trump. Did you miss this quote “Wise men build bridges, fools build barriers”?

NM

You’re assuming that OP actually saw the movie and didn’t just hear about the quote from @ten_gop

By the way, is there any particular reason why Heimdall is depicted as black in the movies?

If any character might be depicted as non-white, it should be Loki, since he’s not actually Aesir.

Because they’re not really the Norse gods? They’re an advanced alien race that might just happen to include dark-skinned individuals, like Heimdall and Brunnhilde?

I don’t know if anyone from Marvel Studios has ever commented on this, but I always assumed it was because Stringer Bell, I mean, Idris Elba, kicks ass.
