Blackhawks (NHL) Goals For Vs. Against

I know this is my personal bias but it whenever I watch a Blackhawks game the goals seem to be in 2 distinct forms.
The goals the Hawks score seem to be the result of good hockey whereas the goals against seem to be the result of an error by the Hawks defense. Even when watching the post-game highlights each time the opposing team scores I can hear a voice in my head saying “well shit, if we hadn’t turned the puck over right in front of our own damn net that would never have happened” or something along those lines, and when the Hawks score the little voice says “well done”.
I’m nuts, right?

Moved Cafe Society --> the Game Room.

One always thinks that about one’s own team. Scores against are the defense messing up. Scores for are your team being awesome. It’s the same for any team sport.

Especially when your favourite team is really good. …

A similar phenomenon: You get excited when a player gets traded to your team, because you’ve seen him in highlights and he’s always looked awesome. Then you find out that he’s just a fairly normal player who screws up a lot and gets lazy sometimes, but maybe once a week makes a highlight-reel play.
