Why is it a red herring? The United States owes a debt. If you notice, everyone else America bullied got reparations (e.g. domestic Japanese citizens during WWII, tribal land for Native Americans, etc). The United States even gave the Jews reparations for WW2 even though, if my history correct, the U.S didn’t support the Nazi Germany at all. The GOP could support reparations by issuing a a partial reparation check to everyone who is identified as “African-American” in the social security database. Problem solved.
