Blake or Agassi or Don't Care.

Seems like the US Open always gives ya a good storyline.

This year, it would probably have to be the emergence of James Blake. This is a guy who broke his neck diving into a post, then lost his father to stomach cancer, then had half his face paralyzed from some weird virus.

Well, after some decent improvement this year he’s playing better than ever. He knocked off number 2, young buck Rafael Nadal, another ranked player Robredo and tonight matches up against Andre Agassi, perhaps playing in his last US Open (but probably not).

Anyway, Blake or Agassi?

I’m going to go with Blake. Definitely going to be watching this match. I’m not much of a tennis fan, but a big, heated US Open match can be very dramatic.

Blake.

I’ve never like Agassi (besides, in addition to his head, it looks as if he now shaves his chest, arms, and legs).

Don’t care.

I found it amusing that Roddick was bounced so quickly however.

Not only was that amusing, but they’ve been running commercials capitalizing on it.

Weird though. Amex and mercedes are running the commercials. It’s almost like they expected it, or at least had them in the can.

Unbelievable match last night FROM THE SOUNDS OF IT.

The friggin thing didn’t start until about 10:20 and after Blake won the first two sets, I said, “fuck it” and went to bed. I said, “if agassi wins the second, I’m staying up, but if it’s 2-0, nope”.

Yeah, it was a great match. I don’t know why they schedule them so late. Although, the Davenport match went pretty long, so things were pushed back a bit from that. For me it’s not too bad, as I’m a couple hours behind eastern time, but a match going past 1am local time is a bit crazy. They do the same thing with monday night NFL games for some reason.

Apparently, the afternoon match went long, too.

So the women’s match started late, and went 3 with a tie-breaker. It was a perfect storm of lateness.

I am not that big of a tennis fan but I watched the match last night.

It was so good I think I never need to see another tennis match for the rest of my life - it was fuckinspectacular! How could you ever top that?!

To see Andre come from that far behind, and sweat for every point, and watch so many times when Blake could have won, or Agassi could have won…geez, I was worn out just watching it!

Simply fantastic and as the commentator said, “it is too bad one of them has to lose” because they both sure did play like winners.

I was rooting for Agassi mainly because he is lives here in Las Vegas and does amazing charity work here - but also because everyone keeps referring to him as some geriatric old fart who should be collecting social security checks and eating applesauce through a straw. Yeah, I know 35 is old for tennis, but give me a break - they must have mentioned his age 40 times during the game! However, I wouldn’t have been upset if Blake won. They both deserve to be proud of that game, and as far as I am concerned, I doubt I will ever see anything like that again.
