Say you could have only one of these appliances in your kitchen - which would you choose?
I’m fishing for opinions because I need to buy a gift, and can’t make up my mind which would be more useful for someone who loves to putter about in the kitchen (making everything from soups to smoothies). And I would rather buy one really good appliance that will stand up to lots of use than get both things on the cheap.

I got a Braun food processor for Xmas…bye-bye blender!
I got a Cuisinart 11-Cup capacity food processor for Xmas and it’s great.
As an amateur kitchen nerd, I’d have to say go for the Food Processor unless you’re prepared to get a REALLY nice blender with a large mixing capacity and high surface-to-blade ratio.
But even then, the food processor will probably be more useful in the long run.
An immersion blender can be had for not too much money and can probably tie up any loose ends that the food processor can’t handle.
