I place this in MPSIMS since it’s not really pit worthy and not serious enough to debate, just an observation.
A couple nights ago Jay Leno’s musical guest was The Blind Boys of Alabama . They are a group of blind men, african american, all at least 70 years old.
They sing upbeat gospel music which is very catchy.
They performed their newest song off their upcoming album entitled Atom Bomb . In the song they used the “atom bomb” as a simile for “god’s love” as in “his love is going to get you like an atom bomb” or “his love is coming like an atom bomb”.
While it doesn’t offend me personally in the least, I wondered if anyone found this offensive, especially from a gospel group, since the atom bomb usually represents a weapon of destruction that killed thousands in Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
It would be like making a song with the lyrics “God’s love is going to wash over you like a tsunami”.
Just wondering if anyone was put off by this??
