Well, back to the OP, when i think of BlockBuster, I think of Bob Hilton saying “This is the battlefield for our game of skill and strategy! These are the letters which lead to victory on… BLOCKBUSTERS!”. Then Bill Cullen welcomes the contestants to the gameshow.
But then, I ain’t right.
One particularly insiduous way Blockbuster is infecting the American mind is by infiltrating the movie making process. Blockbuster has become a big enough player in the film industry that they have been able to approach production companies and offer financing in exchange for an agreement that Blockbuster will have exclusive rental rights to the eventual movies that result. This is bad enough, essentially killing off the competition at the source, but some filmmakers have said that Blockbuster has made “suggestions” about the films’ content as well.
