Blocked windscreen washer ducts

During the winter all my windscreen washer ducts froze solid despite the super-cold-weather fluid I put in the tank. Now everything’s thawed, three of them are blocked. One on the front (out of four) and two at the back. I got a straightened paper clip and poked around in the nozzles, but have had no luck.

Anyone got any ideas for unblocking them?

You need to find something you can use to flush the lines out, assuming you know they are not frozen still. A small bulb syringe is good. Even a turkey baster would work if you can find some way of matching the outlet to the hoses. You could tape it or hold rags against it if necessary. It would leak, but who cares. I like the idea of reverse flushing from the windshield side, but you can try going from the pump end too. This depends on what is available to you as they are hiding stuff more and more. When you get it freed up, add some extra alcohol to the mix and run the system a few times.

PS. Don’t even think of using antifreeze as it eats paint.

PPS. A bicycle pump can be used to blow air through with greater pressure.

Fantastic - just the kind of advice I was looking for. Will try the bike pump tomorrow.

Poking the nozzle jet with a stiff wire is usually the most effective approach. All the ones I’ve seen are much too small for a paper clip, but a straight pin could work. Following that up with compressed air is helpful; the bike pump may work for that.

My first instinct was WD-40, 15 minutes, and trying again. Clearly something has to break the bond between the blockage & the end of the pipe. If not a paper clip, maybe a pin? (but go gentle or risk damaging the part)
