Inspired by the upcoming film Julie & Julia which was based on Julie Powell’s book Julie & Julia, which was based on her year-long blog project to cook every recipe in Julia Child’s Mastering The Art of French Cooking.
What other blogs could, will or did make an enjoyable book or movie?
My nominee is “The Daily Adventures of Mixerman”, following the recording of an rock album by a band given a two million dollar advance then forced by the record company to write songs for two years, rejecting everything because they “don’t hear a hit”. By the time they get into the studio, all the band members hate each other. It’s evil, snarky fun, and possibly the most honest view of the record business ever recorded.
Not meant as a blatant plug, but I write on this blog (and several others) and I’m actually writing not a movie, but a tv pilot which is “based on true life” for me and my adventures… (which I chronicle online) It could turn in to a movie script, but I’m really leaning towards trying to get it picked up for tv.
I’ve just finished a book which will hopefully come out soon based on the recipes too.
Club Life is a very interesting (but politically incorrect) blog about written by a nightclub bouncer. Its a real eye opener.
When I first came across this blog I almost gave up on it because it seemed to be deliberately offensive to Italian Americans. But actually its only making fun of a certain type of immature macho subset that frequent certain types of night clubs.
