“brunette” isn’t “person with dark hair”?
Rocketeer I believe your definition of Caucasian is wrong. Just sayin’.

I call him “goddamn lucky brother_mcl who stole all of Mom’s good Korean hair genes.”
Bitter? Moi?
For that matter is a man with brown hair a Brunette? “Ette” indicated a female.
You know, I have black hair and I’ve never even thought about this.
Sanguine means reddish. What Wednesday has is sangfroid, but that’s another thing
I thought it meant “bloody” or “of or pertaining to blood.” That could be red. Maybe tdn is an ancient Greek, though. Or maybe he meant “melancholic.”
“Raven-tressed” or “raven-haired” sounds… odd to me. I dunno. My mum’s got the black hair in the family and I’ve always called her a brunette.
Wednesday Addams always seemed much more phlegmatic than sanguine to me.
Bruno?
I’ve seen a few sites that sell body art quality henna that promote indigo as a source of somewhat natural looking raven-colored hair dye. Of course, I’ve never dyed my hair black with the stuff, so I don’t know how well it works. the model on this page for indigo hair coloring appears to have a diverse range of colors within her colored hair. I’m sure it’s worth a try, as it’s not too different than henna on hair.
BTW, I refer to “black” haired people as brunettes if I mention them by their hair color at all.
Here is the best I can do:
blonde, yellow?, very dark, red, almost black? (I’m on the left), my natural brown (I’m on the right), bonus: none!
I think the word for a brown-haired male is “brunet.” I’m sure I’ve seen this in print somewhere, and if light hair is blonde for women and blond for men, it makes sense.
“Dark-haired” is how I usually describe it and prefer to be described as. “Raven-haired” makes me think you’re trying to ascribe a certain air or personality to the person.
Thanks muchly, Opal. I appreciate your efforts to contribute meaningfully to the discussion.
Yeah, who’m I kidding with that kind of talk?
Rowr! Opal, you’re hot regardless of hair color / style / presence. How you doing?
Oops I forgot one other kind of hair: facial hair!
To me “raven haired” is black-black… but very, very black! (spanish “ala de cuervo” or “pelo negro”), “dark haired” is black-or-dark-brown (“morena” or “castaña”).
Is there a more… feminine and/or attractive animal to use instead of “Raven”? All it reminds me of is Lenore…
(just a name, and nothing more)
as a kid i had incredibly blue-black hair, altho my hairdresser today says there’s no such thing as true black hair, that’s it all varying shades of a very VERY dark brown.
meh. don’t know that i agree with him, either, but your personal MMV on that issue.
whatever the answer - it’s all gray and covered by dark-blonde coloring. i learned pretty darn quick that while scuba diving, sun and saltwater take a toll on darkened hair.
speaking of feminine, masculine - which is it?
brunet?
brunette?
what’s the masculine?
Brunet is masculine, brunette is feminine.
But she was a rare and radiant maiden.
