Real ones, like Elizabeth Bathory, among others, is known for having taken. (Allegedly she bathed in the blood of virgins to keep her complexion pure…or some such rot.)
But how do you bathe in blood? Doesn’t it, you know, clot? Wouldn’t your tub become one giant scab? And how much blood do you bathe in, anyway? Is it a full tub? A sponge bath? A ewer full?
That’s why you use virgins silly. Really, are the odds of a virgin being an infected IV drug user or infected via blood transufusion really signficant? I think not.
I imagine you’d be in jail before you could actually sink into your tub. An adult male has between 6-7 quarts of blood. The average bath tub hold about 40 gallons. You’re gonna need a lotta virgins.
To answer your question, you would have to add an anticoagulant like heparin, EDTA, or citrates
It would still be icky feeling.
As I understand it, it is blood showers more than blood baths as Elizabeth Bathory, and others, are alleged to have done it. The victim is in some way physically held above the bather. Appropriate wounds are inflicted on the victim and the bather allows the resultant blood to run over him/her.
Bathing in a tub wasn’t as popular during Lizzie’s time as it is today. Most of the time, they did what we’d call a sponge bath, using a small basin and cloth. Sometimes, they stood in a shallow tub, and had water poured over them.
As for Erzabet’s showers, the story goes that she had a spiked cage constructed. She stood beneath the aparatus as the spikes pierced the girls, and the blood dripped down on her.
