Let me say first that I consider Cormac McCarthy to be Americas greatest living author, and **Blood Meridian **to easily be his finest book.
Apparently, Hollywood has finally caught on to him too, thanks in large part to the Coen Brothers phenomenal treatment of No Country For Old Men and Oprah’s freak-out over The Road.
However, as much as I would LOVE to see Blood Meridian on the big screen, I cannot believe that this movie could possibly be made in a way that would do even passing justice to the book. It is too violent, too subtle, and too “talk-y”.
Ridely Scot was originally slated to direct, but according to IMDB, Todd Field will be at the helm.
Fans of the book, what are your thoughts? Could/should this movie be made? If it is made, how would you cast it? And how would you handle the ending?
