I have High blood pressure and agoraphobia with extreme panic disorder.
I missed an appointment and my doctor refuses and denies my blood pressure to be refilled. And i have been without now for over 20 days, and the doctors nurse said taking away my blood pressure medication wont hurt me. lmao. really?? can they do this? I didnt have my xanax they day of the appoinment and my wife tried to kill her self the same day overdosing on meds. and now im denied my medication?
Under those circumstances, I would go to another doctor, and schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist for my wife.
If your doctor has not seen you within a certain amount of time, it is NOT wise for him to continue prescribing medication. That time may be as short as 1 month, or as long as a year, depending on the condition/meds.
If it was a refill for Xanax, that time will tend to be shorter, as Xanax is a DEA scheduled drug. Your doctor could be in legal trouble for continuing to give you xanax without seeing you.
Medical advice is best suited to IMHO.

Either that, or go to another wife, and schedule an appointment with a psychiatrist for my doctor.
Does your doctor now refuse to see you?
Call your doctor. Make an appointment. Go to the appointment. Problem with medication solved.
There’s also this crazy thing you can do right in your own home, called taking your own blood pressure and knowing the parameters for what’s safe for you. How are you on BP meds without checking it at home, anyway? LMAO. Really.
I’d get a good attorney and just visit everyone.
You didn’t go to your doctor’s appointment because you didn’t have your Xanax?
So you missed a medical appt. because your wife tried to kill herself and your panic disorder got the best of you, and now your dr is punishing you? I’d find another doctor.
Also lifetime treatment of hypertension adds less than a year to life expectancy from what I’ve read. Moderate exercise adds several years, and smoking takes away 5+. So the nurse is probably right IMO. Here is another cool factoid I discovered, apparently the ACE inhibitors and diuretics seem to have more health benefits than calcium channel blockers or beta blockers even though all lower BP.
I’d assume/guess/wonder if that is due to ACE inhibitors having protective effects on the kidneys. But I also read this about ACE inhibitors and collagen.
See a doctor and get a prescription for your meds. A lot of grocery stores have those machines where you can take your own blood pressure, you might want to use that. Do you have any family or friends who can go with you to the doctor, or stay with your wife if needed while you go? Good luck, and do get your prescriptions. High blood pressure is treated for a reason.
This. I’d give you a small amount of alprazolam to get you in- then evaluate- then refill as appropriate.![]()
For my organization it is usually a year, but can be much shorter.
Some posters here do not understand agoraphobia.
Definitely get another doc! And when you set the appointment, explain that you have an anxiety disorder at the same time so they need to take that into account.
And not having my BP meds is potentially fatal for me, unmedicated I can run up to 210/190 … as I don’t want to blow a head gasket, I tend to carry at least a week of my meds with me just in case.
Aruvqan is not joking about the ‘head gasket’ phrase.
A relative is now under 27/7 managed care in some sort of group home because she had a hypertensive stroke.
She had that stroke because she stopped taking her blood pressure medicine. :smack:
Most of her friends and family believe she was unlucky enough to have been rushed to the hospital when the incident occurred.
You are way overdue. Get to a doctor and get a prescription for treatment.
