More weirdness arranged by Kim Fowley
Ah, yes. Kim Fowley; the world already had a Charlie Manson so Kim had to settle for making records.
Trivia- the end credits song of WKRP is just made up gibberish, sung to a R&R beat. Maybe not a “mind blown” but a what?
Hehehe, I’ve got a lot to listen to after this post, but Bob Log III is my hero. If anyone reading this ever gets a chance to see him, do it. I don’t catch him every time he rolls through town, but I’ve never regretted seeing him one little bit.
His previous band was amazing, as well. I think I saw them for the first time when they opened for John Spencer’s Blues Explosion. Spencer and pals put on a good show, but I fell in love with Doo Rag that night. Their recordings are great, but watching them play live is kind of indescribable*.
*Maybe Einstürzende Neubauten decides they’re going to do delta blues?
Just trying to catch up and work my way through this thread. It’s great! (but it’ll take a while.)
In the meantime a couple of contributions from me. Love And A Molotov Cocktail by The Flys:
And (I’ve posted this before, I’m sure) Caravan Man by the late troubled soul, Lew Lewis. Save the wail!

The 80s synth band Cocteau Twins also had nonsense lyrics. Nobody in the band was any good at writing lyrics, so they simply used words, or even syllables, that meshed with the song’s rhythm.
Hairy Apes BMX, more Mike Dillon
Tengger Cavalry, Mongolian metal
Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Brit New Wave glamsters
I remember all the hype for Sigue Sigue Sputnik, which fizzled when people actually heard them.
Damn, that’s one of those bands that I remember, but forget till someone mentions them. Thankya.
Hehehe, and he’s partially responsible for one of my favorite novelty records. No surprise that I like that kind of thing.
Alley Oop went #1, but it’s at least a teensy bit obscure in this day and age. I can’t think of the last time I heard it played on an oldies show.
Ooof, love them, thank you for mentioning them.
Hehehe, I kind of still like them. They’re sugar coated as hell, but almost satisfying.
In the world of “Apparently the internet knew of them, but I’m holding it personally against everyone who knew about them and didn’t tell me before I learned of them.” If you knew about Igorrr and didn’t tell me about them, you’re on “the list”. 7.8M views on Youtube, but somehow obscure (no one I push it on seems to have seen it) and I patiently await when it becomes the muzak I hear in a store.
Another Igorrr song I love dearly. No less extreme, but way more metal. This band really does seem to say “I WILL GIVE YOU ALL THE GENRES, AND YOU WILL LIKE IT!”
(Still working my way through the thread - but in the meantime…)
There was a time (around 2005-6) when, if I had been drinking, I might well have argued that the two best bands in the world came from Brighton on the south coast of England.

The Hook - Saw these dudes on an episode of Ironside (“A Trip to Hashbury”) and thought for a few moments they were Mountain. Years later - thanks to the internet - I discovered their true identity.
