Blue eyes vs brown eyes in music

I was counting them as in favor of the color.

There’s alway people who can’t make up their mind:
Temptation, by New Order:
“Oh, you’ve got green eyes
Oh, you’ve got blue eyes
Oh, you’ve got grey eyes”

Elton John’s “Blue Eyes” has already been mentioned, but what about “Your Song”?

And his “Blessed”:

I know you’re still just a dream
your eyes might be green
Or the bluest that I’ve ever seen
Anyway you’ll be blessed

:stuck_out_tongue: He just means he thought he knew what he wanted, until he met Her.

Cowboy Junkies, “Southern Rain”:

And it will never cease to amaze me
how a little rain can drive folks crazy
When I’d trade all my blue skies gladly
for your blue eyes, your crooked smile
and a steady downpour

Hm? No Coldplay? The song is even called “Green Eyes”.

Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) by David Bowie:

“When I looked in her eyes, they were blue but nobody home.”

Not the nicest sentiment, but it fits.

Since this thread has re-surfaced, I’ll mention a folk (?) song I’ve heard a semi-local Irish band sing. It’s called “Old Maui”, and is about the whalers returning to their homes and wives in Hawaii. It’s got another point for the rear-runner black eyes:

There’s also a reference to “aloha eyes” later in the song, but I don’t think that counts as a color.

The classic Aquellos ojos verdes.

By coincidence, a song on the radio today reminded me of this thread:

"Soul Meets Body" - Death Cab for Cutie:

So Brown Eyes I’ll hold you near
'Cause your the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring
through my atmosphere

(I think I got that right.)

I never got over those blue eyes
I see them everywhere
And I miss those arms that held me
When all the love was there …

Johnny Cash, I Still Miss Someone.

There’s and you hide, hide, hide / behind brown and mild eyes, from Pink Floyd’s … uh … something offa “The Final Cut,” I forget what.

I can’t remember who sang it, but what about that song with the line

" don’t it make my brown eyes blue?"

I can’t remember who sang it, but what about that song with the line

" don’t it make my brown eyes blue?"

And “Five foot two, eyes of blue” which can be seen here played with hands only…

Better than colitis cow pies.

Am I really the first Deadhead to open this thread? “Brown-Eyed Women” made its first recorded appearance on Europe '72.

“Brown eyed women and red grenadine
The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean…”

The object of the 1953 Wynonie Harris R & B classic “Don’t Roll Your Bloodshot Eyes at Me” also had a pair of brown peepers, although the main attraction was her irises:

“I used to spend my money, to make you look real sweet
I wanted to be proud of you when we walked down the street
Now don’t ask me to dress you up, in satin and in silk
Your eyes look like two cherries in a glass of buttermilk.”

I find it facinating in its awfulness.

A few more:
Secret Machines “Lightning Blue Eyes”
Michael Penn “Long Way Down” Oh, don’t look in those eyes, bluer than blue/her rule’s on the rise
Shelby “Green Eyes”

Barenaked Ladies - “Life, in a Nutshell”

Her blue-green eyes, complement the burnt-sienna in her locks.

Nick Cave wrote “Green Eyes.”

The Doves - “There Goes The Fear”:

*Close your brown eyes
and lay down next to me
*

Gary Glitter - “Rock 'n Roll Christmas”

and you’ll be rocking in your stocking
when you see your big suprise
cause you’ll be rocking in your stocking
you won’t believe your big blue eyes
