- This is kinda mundane pointless stuff but I assume the question has a real actual answer so I put it here: How many cars were wrecked during the making of the movie “Blues Brothers”? -The first movie, thank you (the second one sucked something awful). There are some scenes where a group of cars is about to wreck, and the camera pans away, and you hear cars wrecking but you can’t tell how many really went down. - MC

Good luck with this one! There seems to be some controversy over the exact amount. The movie purportedly holds the record for the most cars wrecked, however the exact amount is hard to determine because the cars were repaired and reused as they filmed. One source claims thirteen “Blues-Mobiles” and thirty “Chicago” cars, another claims sixty “Chicago” cars. They also destroyed five or six pintos to film the air drop scene. Several drops were conducted to test the aerodynamics of that car for an accurate drop.
