bluetooth - for pc audio, not phone

I managed to screw up my laptop headphone jack - now it only transmits part of the sound (music, video) depending how I wiggle the plug-in bit in the connector (the headphones themselves work fine, it’s definitely the computer part) - and I’d rather not have to send it in for repairs.

My laptop is, I believe, bluetooth compatible, and I don’t really know what that means. Can I listen to audio wirelessly through it and bypass my headphone connector problems? What do I need to purchase to do so? I have no interest in the cellphone application.

Thank you.

Well, you’d have to buy a bluetooth stereo headset, and they’re pricey. Plus they drain batteries pretty fast.

Why can’t you just buy a new sound card?

I don’t think a new sound card would work, would it? The problem is with where the headphones plug in to the laptop.

I don’t know what exactly to look for, but a quick Amazon search turned up a headset less than $25. And I run the laptop off of AC power. Or do you mean batteries in the headset itself?

I get a bump or two, right?

Any additional advice, please?
