Blur's song "Chemical World"

This is a lyrics related question on Blur’s “Chemical World” on Modern Life is Rubbish:

What is being sung at the end of the song, repeated??? It sounds as if Damon is singing (phonetically) “I du in coun-ti ri-fu…”. What are the words?!

I’ve been wrestling with this for a number of years… I love the song, but this part is killing me. Yes, I checked on lyrics sites as well, but they conspicuously leave out the ending.

Help me out! (I realize this post may drop like a brick, but I thought I’d give it a try.)

I was just listening to this song on Saturday on a mix CD that I have. I’ll have to listen to it again when I get home.

As a side note, one thing I always loved about this song was that on the CD single packaging, the back cover had both the lyrics and the guitar chords printed. Pretty cool. Unfortunately, that part was not included.

I don’t know about you
But they’re putting the holes in, yes, yes
It’s been a hell of a do
They’ve been putting the holes in, yes, yes
And now she’s found about you
But they’re putting the holes in, yes, yes
Well I don’t know about you
They’ve been putting the holes in, yes, yes

It sounds to me like …

‘I can see right though-ooh-ooh-ooh’

Those are the chorus lyrics, not the outro.

Crusoe:

That may be (part of) it! (I don’t have the CD on me though.) It would at least make sense, given the lyrics to the chorus.

Singing it in my head though, it sounds as if “I’m seeing right through-ough-ough…” lacks the right cadence and sounds… maybe there is another couple of words in there at the beginning?

“Until you can see right through…”

They’ve been putting the holes in, yes yes. You see?

Skijumper’s interpretation matches mine.

Great tune, BTW. Haven’t thought about it in years.

Yeah, that makes more sense than my interpretation. I checked the sleeve notes just now and there’s no mention either way.

Thank you all, the mystery dies hard.
