Sure! Listed at 6k, I can have it for $4400. He just wants it gone - it’s his daughter’s car, she bought an SUV.
If inspection is okay and no immediate repairs needed over $1k needed I think I’ll snag it.
Sidenote: guy is in Princeton (NJ) and is freakin LOADED, judging by his mansion, pool, palatial grounds, and six-car garage. I’ve been to some real “Hills Have Eyes” murder hovels to look at cars, it was a nice change of scenery, I was only slightly worried about being murdered.
The mechanic inspector deemed the car to be on excellent condition, very strong engine and tranny. I pick her up tomorrow.
Also, she’s s rare-ish “ZPH” model. It has some M3 features/engine power/suspension - not a pure M, but definitely souped-up. I thought the M badging on the rims, steering wheel, etc were fake, but they’re not.
Ah, well the ZHP actually does have a tighter steering rack than any of the other 3-series (including the M). It’s a bit of a legend among enthusiasts, nice pickup!
There’s a kid in my neighborhood who debadged his Honda, put a body kit and scoop on, and stuck BMW roundels and M badges all over it. Sweet guy, he’s stopped to chat a few times when I’m outside fiddling with cars.
Did you increase your budget? I love the E46 ZHP but they’re so sought-after that people are asking more for them than early E90s (which is why I’ve got an E90 myself).
I did, about $1,500 more. The seller had a lot of people interested in it, I was the one who showed up with cash first and wasn’t actively psychotic (it was on Craigslist).
It does have 155k on it; my mechanic inspected it before I bought and gave it an “excellent.” Now I have three Bimmers to love (and spend $$$ on - I think the e39 530 will need an ECU replacement soonish).
I blew up my e10 rad today. Managed to limp it home 30 miles notwithstanding. Coasted down Spooner summit, engine off, and still managed to pass a few people.
