what does the #13/25 stand for on the song rainy day woman?
I thought it was #12 & 35…
One account (by Al Kooper, I believe, who was there) was that that it was a rainy day when he recorded it, and that there were two women in the studio that day, one aged 12 and the other aged 35.
A more complex (and IMO less likely) was that “rainy day woman” was drug slang for marijuana and that 12 and 35 were really a transposition of 13 and 25, with the 13th letter being “m” (for marijuana) and 25 was LSD-25. This was attributed to Allen Ginsberg, who may have been smoking something at the time.
