I’m Dick Wolf, and this is Law & Order: Jackass! doink doink![]()
I guess we were thrown off by the way you told us a completely different plan in your original post. You remember? The plan where you figured your unpaid ticket was forgotten due to the statute of limitations and your North Carolina license covered you in Virginia.
I concur. Having read what you wrote (and at times what you were slow to reveal), this never appeared to be your plan.
However I am willing to take full responsibility of misunderstanding on my end since my head cold has made it much more difficult to read your mind. Any other week I would have been right on it.
You obviously misread the OP.
haha, Tokyo, that was pretty damn good.
Sounds like the $45 was a restoration fee. It has nothing to do with the ticket just the administrative suspension. I’ll be curious to see how the court handles it. IMHO you are doing exactly right. Clearing up your license problem does not automatically excuse your original problem. But my court usually looks favorably on the defendant when he comes in with the problem already cleared up on the DMV side. Often they will merge the remaining tickets and you only have to pay the one fine. But every court/judge does things different.
You know, I wish far worse traffic problems on everyone in this thread who has wished ill on me.
You people are worse than mothers-in-law, when it comes to fault-finding. Good for you on that shit, I’m sure you’re very happy in you relationships in life.
Yeah, well, when I get a traffic ticket, I pay it. And when I move, I get a new driver’s license. That helps cut down on certain kinds of traffic problems.
*your
Wouldn’t this be better served by the Chewbacca defense?
You still haven’t got a clue yet, have you?
If we were wishing you ill, we’d have agreed with you. We’d have told you everything in your OP is true and you were ready to go to court. Then we’d have all laughed as the judge locked you up in county jail for ninety days.
Instead we tried to tell you what you needed to hear instead of what you wanted to hear. You may not have enjoyed the experience but you wouldn’t have enjoyed jail either.
He has a clue. You guys don’t. You guys treated someone like shit, and then are now whining because the guy won’t listen to you. It happens every time you guys do a thread like this, but you never learn. Or, more likely, you don’t want him following your advice. You enjoy having the guy hate you. You enjoy having told him the advice and having him not take it.
You are operating under a false dichotomy. There is a way to tell someone that they are wrong without making them hate your guts. From the getgo, everyone was intentionally hostile. Tripolar even made up shit so he could make fun of the OP.
And once again I heap that hostility back on you, and then everyone’s going to complain about what I did, even though I was nicer to you that you were to the OP.
whoa that’s some class AA Keanu there.
Happy to see you’ve found a friend on the board.
No, he did not come here with a clue. In his OP he was saying things about the law that were objectively factually wrong and would have most likely gotten him into serious trouble in court. Telling somebody they’re wrong when they are wrong is not hostility.
The first hostility was when ambivalid made a comment about a hefty traffic fine and the OP decided to regard this as a personal insult.
No, from the getgo, the only poster who was harsh was Tripolar. The rest of the initial responses were helpful or attempts at being helpful, to the degree
He then came back sounding pissy and telling everyone to shove it, which is a pretty good way of getting the crowds on your back. I think it’s telling that the attorneys who have participated didn’t bother explaining the law.
The opinion expressed in the OP was factually incorrect, and the facts were incomplete as well. I wouldn’t have been surprised if it been an ever worse train wreck.
To al27052: Get a lawyer. Your main goal here is to fix your old issues, which are obviously still current and affecting you. You should ask the lawyer if and how s/he can save you money, including increased insurance premiums from a new ticket. S/he will also probably expedite getting your license reinstated.
To TriPolar: You pulled shit out of your ass in just the 2nd post, and then doubled down simply because the OP is a serial speeder. People don’t get that thorough a cleanse before a colonoscopy. There was nothing in the OP to indicate that he was getting a favor of only having a ticket for 49, and no way to even infer it. More valid was your assumption that he didn’t have his license physically with him. I’ll give you that one.
To many other posters: None of you must drive when I’m on the road, because it sounds like most here are perfect (or pretend to be) and never drive over the posted speed limit. Well, I’ll be honest. I often go 66 in a 55mph zone, maybe even 70. Haven’t had a speeding ticket since my teenage years. Of course, I’m never the fastest vehicle on the road - hell, I’m usually not even the 10th fastest vehicle on the road. I am much more careful on residential streets, because I adapt to the limited sight lines, exacerbated by narrow streets and parked cars on either side. So many stones being thrown - I doubt all the stone throwers are not themselves sinners. (said the atheist)
To D Odds: I didn’t read most of the responses as holier than thou for speeding, I read them as man up when you are caught. Most of the vitriol revolves around the idea the op seems to view himself as some sort of a victim when clearly his situation is of his own making.
I gave him back what any judge or attorney would read out of his story about a bogus ticket. It’s proven out through the thread. If you believe he was only going 49 I’ve got some things to sell you. If you want to characterize my post as hostile, well that’s fair. But the other posters weren’t generally hostile. Most of the hostility has come from the OP. My post didn’t turn his legitimate ticket into a bogus one. And the OP has provided most of the hostility in this thread.
That’s because the cops are too busy giving TriPolar bogus speeding tickets. He should not only get a lawyer, he should get a Freemen lawyer.
