Bombay Mix.

Once you get to the table, yes, but I’ve been in one or two places where they have a seated waiting area with bowls of bombay mix (perhaps we should call it “Mumbai Mix” now).

Crack? It’s the nearest thing, I mean, given an unlimited amount of this stuff (health-food shop near here sells it in kilo bags) I will much to the point of clinical dehydration, or damn near. :eek:

I can vouch for that; the last time I ever got horribly drunk was as a result of washing down large amounts of Bombay mix with sweet cider. My wife found me on the bathroom floor, hugging the toilet. ‘Never Again’ has in this case worked (at least so far) - that was five or six years ago and although I have drunk cider and eaten Bombay mix since, I am careful now to moderate my intake.

I like the little crystals in it. They look like salt but the flavour explodes on the tongue. I was wondering if they were MSG, but I think they’re some combination of salt and citric acid.

Mmmmm. Thanks to this thread I’m off to the local Pakistani shop to get another bag.

I’ve never had it, but would like to try it, someday.

but I’ll buy it bagged, thanks.

<insert nauseated emoticon here>

Might that be Bhujia Mix? That’s a pretty common name for one variety of what we tend to lump together in the category “mixture”.

Bhel Puri is a freshly mixed variant; not really the familiar dry mix at all. It’s a very traditional North Indian snack - puffed rice, lots of little crunchy bits, a dash of tomato and boiled potato pieces, all tossed together with tangy tamarind sauce and given bite by mint and chilli sauce. There’s lots of optional extras like coriander and raw mango, and everyone has their own unique technique, but it all just adds up to one thing: Heaven! :smiley:
