Bombers - Riders Grey Cup 2007

So I’m driving home from work last night with the radio on. A song comes to an end, I hear the DJ say, “What the hell is a Dinwiddie? And how the hell could we lose to one?” and the next song starts. No context, no explanation, nothing. Made me laugh, it did.

 :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :stuck_out_tongue:

The only one ones who can beat Saskatchewan are Saskatchewan. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen, for the sake of all those tvs in all those sports bars across the prairies.

I don’t care one tiny bit about football, but I got my Rider car flag and stuck it on my car yesterday. As I told my husband, it’s a Saskatchewan thing. And I was a Grey Cup baby - born in Moose Jaw hours after the Riders won the Grey Cup in '66. They didn’t win it again until the year I left the province, but I’m sure the two things are completely unrelated.

ETA: GO RIDERS!!!

Kerry Joseph took the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player award. As a former Renegade fan I’m happy for him, but this is a pretty bittersweet moment for me.

{Bump to keep this current for this weekend’s game}

Well, the Bisons have taken the Vanier Cup, which can only mean that the Bombers have it sewn up.

Either way, it’s shaping up to be a good game (I grew up in Regina and Winnipeg so I’m happy however it turns out).

I understand the trophy is particularly breathtaking. Not.

I’ve got two Grey Cup tix to dispose of - if a TO doper is interested, pm in the morning.

(Mods, hope this is okay - not trying to scalp - just don’t want them to go to waste.)

Piper… You went to Toronto for the game and now you aren’t going?

What happened Dude? A few too many Pilsners?

I hope everything is ok. (Unless you just have two EXTRA tix… then I say have a blast man!)

And…

you forgot to say GO ROUGHIES!

[sup]That still hurts this die-hard Eskies fan to say…[/sup] :smack:

But, I consider them to be everybody’s second favourite team across the country.

I’m hoping for a good game, the Wpg D may surprise and keep it close… but my prediction is Riders by 17, say 37-20.
.

Couldn’t be that, unless Northern Piper took his own. I’ve never seen Pilsner for sale anywhere in Ontario. Heck, when I lived in Ontario, I’d never even heard of it.

Maybe it was the Molson Ex that’s unavailable in the West.

Upon further review, I’m going to accept that as a ringing endorsement for the Blue and Gold. Good to have you on board Gregor.

Piper - hope you’re trying to get rid of a pair of tickets other than your own.

edit - I see that you’re going to be going. Excellent - will be good to have a doper there, even if he is mumbling something green.

Not today; not here.

Go Blue!

Prediction - Bombers 28 Riders 26

Oh, we’re here and off to the game in a little while - just that a couple of extra tickets fell into our laps and we don’t want them to go to waste. But a friend of a friend has contacted us so we’ll make sure they get used.

There - that wasn’t so hard, was it? :stuck_out_tongue:

Spoons - you underestimate the organizational skills of the Roughriders - Pils brought in specially, just for this occasion. We drank them dry on Thursday night, but since then the Pils has been flowing freely in the Riderville room.

Now you’re under-estimating me!

Northern Piper, I just got off the phone with a friend in Toronto. Nope, he doesn’t want the tickets. He might have, if he wasn’t already committed to another obligation today, but he sends his thanks to me (for thinking of him) and to you (for having an extra pair of tix). And he also said he’d be supporting Saskatchewan if he was there–so maybe that influx of Pilsner has influenced southern Ontarians through osmosis.

Though if I was there for the game, I’d probably still want a fresh, cold Ex. It’s a mass-produced commercial lagerish ale, but I do miss the stuff at times.

End of the first quarter: Winnipeg 3, Saskatchewan 0.

GO BLUE!

The first half is over. It’s 10-7 for Saskatchewan thanks to a interception return for a touchdown.

Our American Dopers are probably wondering how on earth Winnipeg managed to go from having 3 points to 7 points.

Offense finally showing signs of life in the last couple drives there. Hopefully they come out and actually play some ball in the second half. I’ll take defensive scores, but it’s not a good sign when the defense outscores the offense.

If Haywood can’t return, that’s going to improve Sask’s offense’s chances.

It would have been a better (and more appropriate) half time show with Burton Cummings singing American Woman.

YAY RIDERS!!!

It would have been better to have the Barenaked Ladies doing it following on from the national anthem at the beginning.
Oh yeah, and

WOO HOO!!!
'Riders take the Cup!!!
