2012 CFL Thread

I don’t have much to say to start this thread with, as I haven’t been able to watch the first few games, but the preseason is underway and there have been lots of changes in the offseason. Can’t wait to get the season kicked off for good on Canada Day weekend!

Go Als Go!

That preseason performance against the Bombers underscores just how BAD the Als are going to be whenever A.C. retires. :smack:

As I recall the Grey Cup is played in November right? I could see possibly referring to the upcoming NFL season as 2013 since the Super Bowl is then, but do you actually call this the 2013 CFL season, or was that a typo?

That was a typo  Perhaps a mod could correct it? Sorry! This is, in fact, the 2012 season. In my defence, I’m car shopping, and it’s all 2013 models… :smack:

And the Alouettes release Étienne Boulay, which means I have to find another player to drool over. And yes, without Calvillo, they are pretty terrible (or, rather, Calvillo is just that freaking good!)

ETA: I’ve asked a mod to change the title

I think Montreal should trade with Hamilton for the CFL rights to Tim Tebow. Once he finally bottoms out in the show, I think he’s gonna put up some Doug Flutie numbers in the great white north.

Ottawa’s battle with [del]dirty tree hugging yuppies[/del] residents in the Glebe is finally over, so our new CFL stadium is under way. However, the pointlessly drawn out legal is forcing Ottawa’s return back longer it seems. :frowning:

Link.

“Here at Taylor Field we are number 1 …”

Season is starting !

we’re in our seats, the Cub is asking “Where’s Gainer?”

Auntie drove 3 hours for the pre-season game, the season- ticket holders from Edmonton who sit in front of us just sat down.

The upgrades to the stadium look good, including the Saskatchewan- shaped big screen.

I’ve had a couple of burgers and a couple of beers.

Go Riders!

At least at Taylor Field. Elsewhere…not so much!

I admit to already being confused about which QB is playing where this year. Same 8 names, but switched around somewhat. I’ll have to start paying attention again!

I’m excited for this season! Go Als Go!

Bombers lose Garrett for the season (torn achilles). And the back-up (Chad Simpson) is injured, so their third stringer running back is likely to start.

Well, they didn’t win the game last week, but I have to say it was one of the most entertaining exhibition games I’ve seen. O’Sullivan looked lost, scrambled, passed for a touchdown- 27 yards, to pull ahead; then the Stamps eventually moved up the field for a field goal on the last play of the game with 0:00 on the clock.

Hmmm. Stamps win over Riders, you say? Interesting. May need to change those traffic signals in Regina.

It’s all because Hennnnn-ry is gone to the Ti-Cats.

We’re waiting to see if the Cub still says “Henry throws wild.”

We’ll have to see what happens. The Ti-Cats impressed me last year; I’m curious to see how they do this year with Burris.

True - and now they have Fantuz. :frowning:

hmm - where’s mnemosyne ? it’s almost as if that job is cutting into her SDMB posting time… :stuck_out_tongue:

It is!!! OMG it’s terrible, I have to get up early and drive to work and actually WORK and then drive home…so hard to waste my time on the internet! :smack:

I’m a little more distracted by the NHL draft and impending free agency, and there’s a big family party this weekend that will cut into my CFL watching game, but I’m so excited for the season to start!

The bastards!

OTOH, I do like the money. Yes, I like the money very much.

Perhaps I’ll buy an Alouettes ticket…

There now - that’s the way to start the season, Riders!

43 - 16 over the Ti-Cats!

Hennnn-ry!

Well, the West is Best, this week at least.

If it’s any consolation, Mneysomne, before tonight’s game the Piper Cub pointed to the Als and said “they’re the good guys.”. Then he pointed to the Stamps and said “and they’re the bas guys.”

The girlfriend dragged me out to watch the soccer game in the afternoon. I was wearing my A.C. Jersey, being the good contrarian eye-talian that I am and hating soccer. :stuck_out_tongue:

At the end of the day, I was about disappointed as the soccer people were. The Als defence was brutal, and took some STUPID penalties. And Calvillo had what? 10 first downs? Reallllly looking for a bounce back game against the Bombers.
