Hang on–doesn’t he have that backwards?
We really are going to have to do something about those traffic lights in Regina…

I didnt get to see the game and only found out the score yesterday. Disappointing. I am very glad I was so wrapped up in my mom’s surprise birthday party! Had a blast! I can keep pretending it’s the preseason until I have time to actually follow the league!
Have to say it: Go Stamps! Go Stamps! Go Stamps!
And because I’m originally from Toronto: Arrrrrrrrrrrr-gos!
Gotta love CFL!
Finally watched a game…and watched a Brandon Whitaker hat trick and a Calvillo 443 yard (31/39) , 3TD game. Now that is Alouettes football!
Since they lost the games I didn’t get to see, but won this one, I think I now have to watch them all to ensure they go undefeated the rest of the way (that’s the way things work in sports, no? hehehe)
They were saying it was 39C with the humidex…players likely lost anywhere from 10-20 lbs of weight during that game. Do they just plug them into IVs afterwards to rehydrate them? I felt I was going to over heat just getting up to go get another beer…:smack:
Off to a cottage now for the weekend! It’s a good day!
Do the Riders and Eskimos know they are supposed to get the ball into the end zone? Lacking that, up through those big yellow posts? I know it’s called football, but I don’t particularly want to watch more punting. 6 mins to go, the score is a pitiful 6-1 and I am bored nearly to tears. You guys suck.
Final score: Riders 17, Esks 1.
That would mean that the Riders are undefeated, unlike a certain team in [cough] Montreal [cough].
Not being a fan of either team made for a very, very long game.
I wouldn’t be too proud of that win. That was pitiful. At least my team is improving - yours seems to have decided to continue in last year’s legacy!
No, I’m sorry but that’s just wrong. Last year’s legacy was winless in the west. Yesterday was a win, ugly though it be. I don’t understand how that isn’t improving.
Until it no longer mattered, they only scored because the other team fucked up. That’s not really much of an improvement. I mean, I guess it’s a good thing to not fuck up…but, well, it’s not like you really succeeded either.
Sheesh. They held the opposing team to a single point. How the hell is that not success? And since when do points off of turnovers not count?
It wasn’t a particularly scintillating win, I’ll freely admit, but it still counts.
It counts, it’s just a terrible game and nothing to be proud of, that’s all.
The Alouettes were headed down the “nothing to be proud of” route on Thursday until Kevin Glenn did what he does best - cough up an interception in the dying minutes of the fourth quarter. I wonder if his favourite player is Brett Favre? Als squeaked out a 33-32 win with two touchdowns in less than 3 minutes. People were leaving early, but if there’s one thing to know about the CFL, it’s that 3 minutes is an eternity and, indeed, anything can happen. Calvillo was clearly in pain and having a bad game, but managed some rather nice plays when it mattered most.
I freaking love this game.
What the hell did the Roughriders do to their uniforms?
I don’t like them either - the helmets should be green, dammit!
It is truly a defensive year: 1-1 in the Winnipeg - Edmonton game.
A few weeks ago, I told the Cub that we were going to go to the Lions-Riders game the next day.
He asked, “Who are the Lions?”
I said, “The orange guys.”
He put up both his hands, palms to me, and started waggling them back and forth: “Oh, no, nooo, nooooo, not the orange guys! I’m not friends with the orange guys! I’m only friends with the green guys!”
We got to the game early enough that we watched the teams go through their warm-ups on the field. The Cub at one point was particularly attracted to the four quarterbacks, who were lined up on the goal line, skipping back and forth sideways across the goal line. He asked, “Who are those guys?” We said, “The quarterbacks.” “Why are they dancing?” “To get loose and ready.” “Oh.”
After the game, we were at home, getting ready for bed, and he said, “This Roughrider is going to bed,” and toddled up the stairs. When he was getting into his pj’s he suddenly said, “I’m a quarterback!” And he went into a crouching stance, and gestured that he was snapping a ball between his legs.
We said, “No, that’s a centre.” He said, “Oh”, thought for a minute, and then started dancing back and forth, sideways, over an imaginary line. “I’m a dancing quarterback!”
Every now and again since then, we get treated to the dancing quarterback.
There - the Esks have exploded offensively for 3 more points, 4-1. Probably an insurmountable lead.
Steven Jyles ain’t sleeping tonight. :smack:
Good for the Bombers, finally getting that monkey off of their back at home.
And it’s a hot day at Taylor Field: + 32 C. Riders dominant on their first drive - hope it continues!
Ouch!
