I just saw a Bonanza with only two Cartwright brothers mentioned in the opening credit. Is this an older or a newer episode? It could be that Adam (Purnel Roberts) was a long lost brohter added in the beginning, or he was killed off by script writers in later episodes? What’s the SD?
Pernell Roberts (Adam) left the series after the first 165 episodes. To write him off the show, they had his character move to Australia.
Parnell Roberts was unhappy with the show, and left after the 1965 season, So any of the episodes from 1966 on wouldn’t have him in it.
Wow! I know 'em Cartwrights can ride, but that’s some horse ride!
He just went on the same boat as Quigley.
Must’ve used a seahorse. At least part of the way.
It was a major mistake by Roberts. He wanted to stretch as an actor, and after he left his career went into a tailspin until Trapper John, MD. Greene, Landon, and Blocker went on to make millions, most of it very well invested.
You can ride a horse across the ocean if you’re moving Quigley enough!
I wonder what ever happened to Dan Blocker’s race car Vinegaroon?
Megagroan! Beautiful.
My mother grew up with Dan Blocker in the little town of O’Donnell, Texas. She remembers him and his family well.
Since it appears to be too late to keep this thread from taking some sidetracks, have any of you ever seen God’s Little Acre (1958)? Michael Landon (in his pre-Little-Joe days) played an albino with the alleged ability to dowse for gold. If you haven’t seen it, and it comes around so you can, do. One hilarious movie with a great cast.
Pernell Roberts did get the last laugh by outliving the rest of the cast.
I grew up in the town just south of O’Donnell, down Hwy. 87. Small world huh?
Lamesa? My grandparents are buried in a little cemetary outside Lamesa. We were by there a few years ago to make sure they were being maintained properly. Very small world.
How close is O’Donnell to Alpine? I was there visiting friends for Thanksgiving and there was a building with a mural on it and it featured Dan Blocker.
Yup, that be the place. Various family members are buried in that cemetary. The only reason we go back is my Mil and Bil live there.
Adam, hubby says it’s about a couple hundred miles from O’Donnell to Alpine. Don’t quote us, though, that was just a WAG.
Forgive me for feeling a need to top you, but I once saw Landon in I Was a Teenage Werewolf (1957, in the title roll). Probably not worth looking for. . . .
Has she ever made reference to the Dan Blocker Singers?
