I would say they are just foolish.
I mostly think Jebus is making too much out of a dumb commercial. But it would be nice if the gorgeous woman was Hispanic, Black or Asian for a change. The “hot blond skanky women with breast implants”* is probably used 80% of the time and even the remainder of the time it is still a white woman.

You don’t know if they considered race. You don’t know what they considered. There could be accusations of hinky race relations no matter how the participants were chosen.
Well…first, my answer was about 80% mocking. I think Beavis, I mean, Jebus, is getting a wee bit overheated here. Second, I’m pretty sure the "hot white blond tennis player was probably Maria Sharapova, who right now is hot and very prominent in women’s tennis. The Williams sisters, although they still play, aren’t as prominent as they used to be. And when they were big, I saw them everywhere. And IIRC, Serena got a way better than average “hottie” rating. So yes, he’s spouting. And overreaching. And needs to have a bit of a lie down.
Serena a hottie? Of the two Williams, she’s by far the best looking. I always thought Venus looked like Mike Tyson in drag. But Serena is below the median in my opinion.
Maria Sharapova is getting the attention because she looks like a goddess. I’m sure if Halle Berry could play tennis she’d be getting the big endorsements too.
Serena got an 82% rating at AskMen.com. Not too bad. She does some modeling and at least one car commercial. And I never noticed the media portraying the Williams sisters as “manish freaks”, they were roundly fawned over, being the first two black female tennis superstars.

I think that there are times when Serena looked absolutley hot. (She is by far the prettier of the two.) But the picture you chose does look like a guy in drag.
And that’s how it should be. Everybody loses if we have to spend that much effort just trying not to offend anybody. All this example proves is that you’re a nitpicking motherfucker.
Unfortunately, tall, blonde and white is still the ideal. It sucks, but I’m not sure you can blame any one group for it. This country is mostly white.
You’re full of shit here. The media always harped on their athleticism, but tennis broadcasters have lavished attention on Serena’s outfits for years. Much of the time, what she was wearing got more attention than who she was playing. And a good deal of coverage was given to the sisters’ mutual interest in fashion design - hardly a mannish pursuit.
I guess ESPN decided Stewart Scott was funnier than the other guy (probably Trey Wingo). Sorry that they didn’t consult you.
