OMFG.
Who was playing lead with Bonnie?
That was George Marinelli
Here’s a link to Bonnie’s appearance. The song starts around the 4:30 mark.
Wow. Well done; that’s some great fingerstyle guitar. And Bonnie’s in fine voice.
Yeah, very nice interplay between the two, and Marinelli’s solo was so tasteful. And you’re right about Bonnie’s voice; I think it has only gotten better over the years.
Thanks for knowing who it is. And yes, I was just about in tears–they sounded SO good!
Her appearance is terrible. She’s kept the same look for 30 years and she’s gotten way too old for it.
Wait… Was that what you meant?
I haven’t bought an album of hers since Luck of the Draw but her voice still sounds terrific! Thank for the link.
OK. . .of to Amazon I go. Saw her & BB King & The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Dr John In concert shortly before Luck of the Draw came out, and I count it as my absolute favorite musical experience. Simply incredible. There were two shows that night, and my only regret was that I went to the 2nd one, as I would have gone again had it been the first show.
Ha ha, yeah sure, that’s what I meant!
Actually, I think she looks pretty good for 63. But it’s her voice that really does it. She can sing a straight-out love song or a “He done me wrong” song or an “I’m not the one you’re looking for” song with equal ease.
The Craig Ferguson clip is a perfect example. The little inflections, the world-weary tone- this is a woman who has been there, done that. And she’s no slouch on the guitar. I’ve seen her in concert twice and yeah, I’m a big fan. Can you tell?
The success of Nick Of Time sent Bonnie off in a direction that I didn’t appreciate but was happy that she was getting the attention she’d always deserved. I still love her voice and that songs was great. I’m also disappointed by her “appearance”. It’s not that she’s kept the same look for too long, but she just looks too old. And as I’m less than a decade behind, it saddens me. She was never beautiful but her face always had an enviable amount of character in it.
Shes’ the best looking old bluesman around!
