I’m not Big Bad Voodoo Lou, but I’ll give my reasoning.
According to the AKC, Basset Hounds were originally developed “to follow a trail over and through difficult terrain” and are most commonly used to hunt rabbits. Basset Hounds can still function as dogs, as can Dachshunds (though the latter are prone to back problems due to the short legs and long backs). Munchkin cats often have problems jumping and climbing compared to cats with normal legs, and IMO should not have been bred. They shouldn’t be euthanized, either, but the original cat(s) should have been neutered and kept as pets.
