On the OP’s particular concern, the Simpsons did a very barbed take on Mad, when Bart and Milhouse got the latest issue and noted [I rely on memory] ‘They’re really sticking it to that Spiro Agnew guy again. He must work there or something’.
It’s actually printed 6x a year. And recently they moved they’re operations out of NYC to California. They also started a “new” version of the magazine and reset their issue number to1. They’re up to #2. And for what it’s worth, I’m 58 and have read MAD pretty much all of my life and the new stuff is just as funny as the old. If you happen to like political satire, get yourself #2 and look at the bit about people who have “tramp stamps”. And yes they still have the fold-in.
That’s not really accurate. Yes, Mad prints reprint collections - but as I noted, they’re identified as reprint collections. Obviously, reprints from the seventies will have seventies topics.
But I just looked at their website. There are jokes there about Lebron James, Maxine Waters, and who Trump will nominate to the Supreme Court.
Nope, but I wouldn’t mind owning that. I was referring to the original paperbacks: (from memory) Don Martin Steps Out, Don Martin Bounces Back, Don Martin Drops 13 Stories, etc., including Captain Klutz.
