Book Suggestions for My Daughter (update)

Some of you may remember this thread where I asked you to recommend books for my seven-year-old daughter. Green Bean requested, and, in fact, I had always intended to provide, some follow-up.

Some highlights:

The Phantom Toll Booth was a smash hit.

Next came the Prydain series. She went through all five! I don’t know if this is the proper word, but I had such a feeling of joy watching her read them. The little monkey would pour a bowl of Cheerios and open up the High King. An amazing sight.

Another fave was (and remains) the Encyclopedia Brown series.

For mysterious reasons, The Westing Game was not to her liking . Maybe next year.

She loved also The Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.

I really appreciated your advice. It was so very, very helpful. And you’ve helped make a special little girl a bit more special.

Thanks!

Hi KarlGauss! How was your vacation? I think I lost your last email, I just started using Pegasus, and I’m not real good with it.

I’d like to suggest The Borrowers by Norton. I loved that as a kid. Stuart Little was a fave too, for me and my girls. But stay away from The Story of O, I think that’s for older readers.
