Book title I can't remember...driving me nuts

Hi all, please help if you can.

was there a book, I think during colonial times, or victorian. one or the other.

model family. well to do. had a secret though. the daughter had hydrocepheolus(?) (enlarged head due to accumulation of fluid)

dickens or austin. or bronte. i can’t remember it’s kiling me.

vague i know but worth a try

thanks in advance

Certainly not Austen or any of the Brontes. I haven’t read all of Dickens’ books, but it doesn’t sound like a Dickens-type plot, either.

I can’t think of the book…but maybe this will help?

Hydrocephalus: A usually congenital condition in which an abnormal accumulation of fluid in the cerebral ventricles causes enlargement of the skull and compression of the brain, destroying much of the neural tissue.

Are you sure it wasn’t an Anne Perry novel or something of that kind?
