Book written in French recently about American customs; what is it?

I remember reading some selections quoted in either The New Yorker or possibly Harper’s Monthly, maybe a year or two ago, from a book written by a Frenchman who visited the U.S. and talked about what he saw.

The book was written in French and I think the magazine had it translated. I remember one quote was about questioning why “you Americans are so obsessed with muscles”.

Does anyone happen to remember this book? I would like a copy if I can find it in translation.

Probably American Vertigo by Bernard-Henri Lévy, although I believe it was written in English.

The book by Lévy (2006) is based on his series of five articles called “In the Footsteps of Tocqueville” published in The Atlantic in 2005. You can read the articles here.
