I’m watching an episode of The Amazing Race from an earlier season. In the race, the contestants (while in India) must book flights to New Zealand. They have to go to a travel agency to book those flights, NOT an airport. Phil, the announcer, says that local laws forbid people from booking international flights at the airport.
Can someone explain the reasoning behind this law in India?
I was in India in 2001, and had no problem booking a flight at the airport from Mumbai to Bangkok. Maybe it’s an issue with flights to New Zealand, or it may be a recent law.
