Bookovies: Combing Book And Movie Together?

Considering more and more people are using Nooks and Kindles and other electronic devices to read books, when will we be seeing the first Bookovies*?

I am envisioning a book with a quiet soundtrack - perhaps a huge SCREAM when you turn the page? Maybe some exterior film footage of the landscape/house fading in and out at the beginning of chapters?

Or perhaps some cartoon panels coming to life?
Lightning and thunder on that dark and stormy night?
A dog barking in the distance?
Footsteps coming down the hallway?
Doorbells ringing?
Police and fire sirens nearing?
A gunshot?
Explosion?

Would certainly be a “new” variation of reading a book alone on a Saturday night!

Is the time for the first Bookovies* coming?

  • consider this my new Trademark name!

sounds like what some applications for beinning/early readers do. I’m not convinced it encourages reading, but haven’t read any studies.

Mike Nesmith did something like this in 1994 with his book/album The Prison.

There are motion comics out there.
Digital pop-up books probably exist on children’s sites.
But both those things are already mostly visual.

I don’t know about Bookovies. No need to keep the ‘k’
Boovies. But that would be confused with movies that are booed.
