I’m looking for a really comprehensive history of north american indians, from prehistoric times up to, say, late 1800s. I don’t care how long it is, even if it’s seven volumes. Must be very well researched and authoritative.
Anyone have experience of such a book (or set of books)?
Price is no object? You can try the Cambridge History of the Native Peoples of the Americas, vol. I:North America ( Parts 1 & 2 ) for $130 :).
I haven’t read this one because it costs a goddamn fortune ( though I might pony up for it eventually ), but the Cambridge Press books are more often than not worth the price and are generally meticulously researched.
For $500 you can get the entire three volume set ;).
