Books About Princesses

I’ve just finished reading the seven graphic novel series The Three Thieves. The reader figures out that the main girl is going to turn out to be a lost princess pretty early in the story, though she herself doesn’t even suspect until the sixth. Not only is she a swashbuckling action hero who doesn’t wait around to be rescued, in the third book she actually rescues a prince.

I’m sure there are novelizations of all the Star Wars movies, not to mention a huge number of licensed novels set in the same universe. I bet Princess Leia features in a lot of these.

Thanks to everyone who has responded to this thread. You are, each and every one of you, awesome! I have not completed my list of reccommendations, but she is at first interested in The Two Princesses of Barmarre, and one of the books Jessica Day has written. She hasn’t yet seen all of the suggestions here. THANKS!

Wildwood Dancing, by Judith Marillier. Based on the fairytale of the 12 Dancing Princesses.

I’m going to second* Cinder*, by Marissa Meyer. It’s a fun series that’s not too serious and also not stupid. I think it would be perfect for that age group.

If you will accept graphic novels, I recommend the series “Bone”, which is in part about a princess (Thorn Harvestar).

I also like the TV series “Star vs. the Forces of Evil”, which is an affectionate parody/deconstruction of ‘magical princess’ tropes (as well as being very weird and funny).

:dubious: Who doesn’t show up till around p. 40 of the 150-page book and appears on maybe 25 pages thereafter. The Prisoner of Zenda is about the adventures of a guy who falls in love with a princess, not about the princess herself.

Till we have faces, by CS Lewis is a great book about a princess. She might be a little young to get it all but she still should enjoy it.
