Books on modern day Africa

I just finished reading A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah, about which… wow. Powerful, shocking, makes you thank God you live in a country where you have no concept of a destroyed village.

Can somebody recommend other readings on modern Africa? This book along with HOTEL RWANDA (which of course is a completely different region/situation) made me realize how ignorant I am on how these conflicts began, the current status, etc., and Wikipedia I just don’t really trust.
