Rather than bump this7 year old thread I thought I would start a new one and see what more current dopers have to say about things. If there is anything new or if anything was not mentioned in that thread (not that there aren’t good ideas in that thread.) Also, what is out there in terms of websites and blogs that are worth checking out? The world has changed a lot since 2004, what other places should I look?
The one book that I know I want to get is McGee’s Keys to Good Cooking, which seems to be a distillation of his earlier works aimed at the home cook. Things like his On Food and Cooking and Pepin’s *Complete Techniques * are probably more advanced than I am looking for, but I don’t need beginner books either. What else lands you in the middle between serious culinary student and just starting out learning too cook person?
