I don’t look at the end, ever. I have no value judgements on what anyone else does. But it is true that I usuallycannot read a book a second time, unless it’s after several years. It’s not just that I remember the ending, it’s that I remember the whole thing.
You can’t enjoy a novel if you remember it? Have you kissed your wife/husband more than once? Seen a movie more than once? Or do you totally only enjoy novelty? I’m not being sarcastic; I am interested in this line of thinking as it is extremely alien to me. In fact, I go through periods fairly often when I can only enjoy reading things I have read before, like talking to a familiar old friend. So I find the other point of view interesting, but curious.
I don’t, but I know several people who do.
I open a lot of oysters. When I get a pearl, I value it.
