Borat

A little late to the game, but I just saw it for the first time.

The hardest laugh I got? Borat gets to L.A. and reunites with his producer, who explains that the bear ran away.

Momentary shot of the bear’s head in the fridge in the motel room.

Of all of the cleverly staged fragmented bits in this very odd project, this throw-away moment slayed me.

Interesting man…

I’m guessing you meant to post this in Cafe Society? I’ll move it for ya.

Whoops, yes I did. Thank you very much.

That was my favorite part, too.

One of my favorite lines went something like "I came to America with a camera, my producer, and a jar of Gypsy tears to protect me from AIDS.

I also loved “I will now sing Kazakh National Anthem to the tune of American National Anthem.”

If liked Borat, you might want to check out another one of Sacha Baron Cohen’s characters, Ali G.

Here he is interviewing Noam Chomsky.

The Ali G movie is dumb but kinda fun. It’s not a faux-documentary.

You probably don’t want to see Brüno though, unless you hate laughing.

And the show is good.

i liked the running of the jew.

I watched Borat on TV, with my mom, who laughed SO hard I was afraid she was going to have a seizure or break something internally. Mom is 84, just so you know. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think I laughed hardest at the blurred-out portions of the hotel-room fight.

FYI…his next project is portraying Freddie Mercury in the upcoming Queen movie.

My favorite part is, well, everything before he gets to America. Not that the bulk isn’t funny, but I think the faux-foreign sequences are amazing.

I’m guessing you watched this on TV… it was NOT blurred in the theatrical version!

the guy that does the pre-recorded tapings of showtimes at the local theater as a southern accent. In deepest drawl, he would say “Beau Rat showtimes are 7 pm and 9:15 pm” the way he said Borat as “Beau Rat” was hilarious.
