Chasterdize? Slurrburring? It’s like being harangued by Lewis Carrol. Excuse me whilst I take my vorpal sword and go galumphing off.

MR. Hamlet Thank you for your loving input. Since you belive screaming insults at people helps anything or anybody then I truly feel sorry for you. But since I refuse to belive that one is completly lost, no matter how vulgar his temper may be, then i will make one more attempt to explain what i mean. What I meant was that war has become a source of entertainment for the public. It’s a sad fact that people died in the WTC but on the same time it’s a sad fact the people are dying in Afganistan. In the '60 and '70 people held their ideals in high esteem and tried to live up to them. Those ideals were love, peace and equal justice for all, also poor people in less fortuned countries. And they don’t have television to distract their minds from their mindboggingly boring existence. I wish those times were upon us once more.
But then again Mr. Hamlet, you don’t have to agree to anything I have to say. And if you still feel like taking your rage on life out on me I’ll buy you a ticket over the ocean.

Dear Mr. Miller. Hehehehehehe. Carrol!! Hehehehe. I’m much better at sounding smarter than I actually am in my native language! Well, no, hehehehe

Apathy.

No fanatic can best it.

I believe our apathy, combined with our ability to annihilate large populations with a mininum expendature of money, time or effort is what makes us the greatest nation in the world.
Man, even i don’t know if I’m being sarcastic

It is widely noted in historical descriptions of wars that up to the mid-19th centuries, pitched battles were often attended by large numbers of spectators. The trend to high-velocity projectile weapons and the treatment of civilians as legitimate targets made the practice too dangerous to continue.

Should the conflict not be covered by the press? If so, how would that benefit anyone?

But apparently, it would not be so sad a fact if thousands more Americans were to die at the hands of Afghan-based terorists because the US did nothing?

Just how much time have you ever spent in the USA to make these absurdly sweeping statements, anyway?

Save your pity for someone who gives a shit. I have an unbelievably wonderful life, so don’t feel sorry for me.

Just take a second, if you can spare it from your high horse, and tell me how you get from, “America is fat and happy and we fight a war to alleviate or boredom” to “I long for the ideals of love, peace and equal justice.” I’d really be interested.

Save me your pathetic attempt to spew platitudes and feel sorry for me. It’s a cheap ploy to try and make yourself feel and look better, and is nigh but antithetical to your OP. Now if you said: Oops, I screwed up in my O.P and didn’t mean to sound like an asshole, Fine. I still say Fuck You until you learn how to express yourself in an non-insulting manner.

Nothing loving about it, so don’t sweat your pretty little head over it.

Hey, I’m always up for a free trip. Just email me the ticket and my wife, kid and I will be right there so you can backpeddle even more. We’d love to see it.

Oh, bloody hell. Preview is your friend.

I’ll try that last bit again.

In the '60’s and '70’s, many of these ideals were sparked by the fact that television, which contrary to the OP’s belief was actually in wide use, beamed footage of the Viet Nam conflict into shocked American homes.

Try not to confuse the message with the messenger.

Twit.

BWAHAHAHAH HAHAHA HEHEHEHEHEH HARHARAHARHAR!!!

Stop it,…

Please…

You’re killing me…
ROFLMFAOSTC!!!
You must have had rose-colored lasik surgery!!!

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!

The war in Iraq didn’t solve the issue of Iraq’s illegitimate annexation of Kuwait? World War II didn’t solve the issue of Germany’s conquest of France, Poland, Belgium, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, a good sized chunk of the USSR, and perhaps some other places? The Vietnam War didn’t solve the issue of a divided Vietnam?

Problems solved (or at least partially so) by war:

Slavery
Fascism
Absolute Monarchy
Imperialism
Muslim expansion into Christian lands
Christian expansion into Muslim lands
Taxation without representation
Gross mismanagement of state funds
Rigid class systems
Homelessness

Where in Europe are you from? I’m from Ireland. In the 60’s and 70’s my people where blowing the living shit out of each other. The mainland was no “Land of Peace and Love” by any means. I couldn’t be arsed to go look for cites as I’m not even sure you serious. You sound like you hid a bit to much away from reality in the 60’s/70’s? Have you heard a certain little War in South East Asia around that time period? Riots in most European about the War/Race etc? A little bollocks by the name of Pol Pot? A group of lovely chaps called Black September? Mayor Daly of Chigago? JFK, Cuban Missle thingy? and many many many more.

Peace and Love Brother.

So grow your hair long, get a lava lamp and throw your fucking tv out the window. Sounds groovy to me.
