I have this (paid for thankyou) and I installed it the other day on Vista.
It crashes on startup. I’ve tried compatability mode/desktop composition off etc… to no avail.
I realize that I am asking a lot for an app as complex as an IDE designed for older versions of 32bit windows to work in 64bit Vista, but before I think about dual-booting my computer between the two (I like Vista thanks) I figured I’d ask the question.
So have any users of this IDE got it to work in Vista? x64?
Not that it’s really the end of the world if I don’t get it working… I never use the bloody thing!
(But it would be nice to be able to tweak/debug my old apps)
I have not - but have you tried their newsgroups? I have found them to be very responsive. They have one guy on there who is very sharp and seems to live there.
They have a web interface. All the groups can be found here.
Their specific group for IDE issues can be found here (IDE).
I don’t have a newsgroup account, but seem to be able to access them via outlook express even without the account.
They are usually pretty good, even to newbies, but can be grumpy about the usual things: cross-posting in particular. I have also been scolded for posting above quotes.
MrSquishy Thanks for the link, I’m afraid it doesn’t really help. It talks about getting delphi installed, and problems associated with User account control i vista. I had no problem installing it (and I have the evil UAC switched off anyway)
With thanks to Quartz I was able to get more detail about why it fails…
