GOOD episode, very good. It had just the right combination of fun and serious. Alan was also spot on in his self-analysis at the end… and one has to think his actions will have consequences at some point.

Antique steam-powered woman-pleasing machine, indeed!

Is the machine for real? I read that Victorian doctors induced orgasms to cure “female problems”, but didn’t know that this was mechanized. Awesome.

The conversation between Denny and Ivan was fun. You could tell when they met in the hallway that something like that was coming.

So unrelated people, total strangers, can get themselves appointed conservators and fleece old people? There’s an incentive to be good to your children. Or not to get old.

Anybody else here watching on HDTV? The soft focus they use on Candace Bergen’s close-ups is really obvious, especially when they cut to a CU of, say, Tom Selleck.

Well, it’s certainly possible that they made it look more dramatic for television, but this Wired article traces the history of vibrators to that period. I’m sure you could dig up more in-depth… cites… with a curious enough Google

As for the HDTV, nope :frowning: I get what HD I have via over-the-air digital broadcasts, and ABC is unfortunately the one network that doesn’t come in reliably. I might have to see if any friends have that version DVR’ed, though, 'cause I’m kind of curious about that now.
