knoodler already guessed Yog-Sothoth, and I’m stumped trying to think of someone else it could be.

I’m stumped trying to figure it as well.

I don’t recall anything out of Poe, and it’s been too long since I read any Dr. Dolittle books, but that might be the way to go.

Lofting was English, though.
