Yes! I am John Alden. I was the cooper aboard Mayflower when she carried the pilgrims to the New World, and decided to stay there with them. I served as assistant governor and treasurer of Plymouth Colony, and in other positions, but I am best known because Henry Wadsworth Longfellow - a descendant of mine - wrote a poem in which he had Priscilla Mullins say to me, “Speak for yourself, John.”
