I know it’s Shakespeare, I know I’ve seen the play this is from, and presumably it’s from a comedy… but I don’t know the speaker. And there are just too many possible “B’s” (Benedick? Beatrice? Sir Toby Belch? Nick Bottom?) to hazard a good guess.
In Rostand’s play, Cyrano de Bergerac is standing guard while Roxanne and Christian are being married. He spots the approach of De Guiche and improvises a wild tale about having fallen from the moon to delay him until the ceremony is complete. The real-life Cyrano, in fact, wrote a story about the Man in the Moon.
So you’re not Manuel Barrueco? Consider this a whole-hearted recommendation - he is up there with Andre Segovia and John Williams as an absolute master of the instrument. He records with EMI Angel records, tours extensively and teaches at Peabody in the US. I got to meet him last year after his Toronto concert at the Glenn Gould Studio, and I thanked him for more than 20 years of inspiration.
Anyway…
