And I have had a depressing suspicion that he may be too obscure for several days, and even if not, I shouldn’t have used him as a J, because too many J named people match most of the answers above.

(But I liked the J questions I got better than I probably would have Fs).

So, anyone heard of him before?

I am not up on John Gregg Fee. Seems an interesting character, but I didn’t know him before.

Unknown to me, and I’ve read a fair amount about abolitionism over the years (my alma mater, Oberlin College, was prominent in the American movement).

That was my thinking as well.

Brown was close, but missed on the year of death and autobiography questions. He was memorialized in poetry, “John Brown’s Body” which was put to an old camp song which was also used as the tune for “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

Clearly, John Fee was too obscure, too local a notable person.
